I know it's a lot to not lose your faith in humanity a little bit. Just keep in mind this quote - "if I only looked at rotten apples and pears, I'd lose faith in fruit."
Between this and birthers though, I'm starting to wonder. Maybe they're all secret liberals in part of a vast conspiracy to undermine the conservative agenda by making them look like complete flaming lunatics. It's certainly working.

As of a few months ago, I stopped identifying myself as a Republican and started using the phrase "politically conservative," because I don't want to be lumped together with the stellar individuals who are representing the party these days. I know there are extreme opinions and extreme ignorance in both parties, but lately it just seems like the Right is shouting the loudest and the Left is smart enough to sit back and let the rabble do its damage.
When a party is in control, the other shouts louder than usual. Bush was in control, liberals called him a Nazi and a tyrant. Obama is in control, conservatives call him a Nazi and a tyrant.
I can't watch the video (I'm at work), but I'm assuming it is more of what I have seen in other videos/being at these protests.

Dennis, if you break down each of these men by their actions (thus far), meaning everything from speeches to executive orders to legislative priorities to foreign policy, I think you'll find that Bush comes far closer to fitting the description of tyrant and nazi than Obama has (again, thus far).
The Patriot act and domestic wiretapping were serious attacks on the constitution that have gone essentially unchallenged. The difference between the Left under Bush and the Right under Obama is that, whether regarding civil rights, war, or the environment, the Left had reality to back up most of its concerns.

Obama plans to extend several aspects of the PATRIOT act (including roving wiretaps and the "Lone Wolf" section)

People DID have more of a right to protest Bush. He began the ludicrous amount of spending that has caused our federal budget deficit to spin out of control. He started a war for questionable (at best) reasons. He was part of the machine that passed the PATRIOT act. The list goes on and on.
In my opinion, Obama is not doing enough (if anything) to remedy the wrongs of the Bush administration. I disagree with the additional spending he has done, and the spending that he plans on doing.
That being said, 99% of the people at these protests are partisan hacks. They didn't care when Bush was overspending.
I went to the first "Tea Party" (always hated that name, it's over-dramatic and inaccurate) thinking that it would be a protest against government spending. It become clear after the 1.5 hours I spend there that while many of the speakers were libertarian/anti-spending advocates, the members were an angry partisan mob. Any time Bush was mentioned by a speaker as overspending they were met with boos. Obama critics, of course, were met with thunderous applause.
Some of the people I met were genuine, the majorty were just repeating Hannity/Beck/Coulter.
So yes, I agree with you, liberals in 03-07 were more justified in their protests. While these "tea party" protests are premature and overzealous, give Obama time. Bush had years to fuck this country up, Obama has only had 8 months. Let's see where he (and our country)is 2.5-3 years into his presidency.

Point to Steve. Buying into media propaganda is part of the problem, not the solution. It doesn't mean, however, that ignorance isn't definitively out there.
Had a chance to watch the video. Pretty typical. I love the message at the end. The *only* thing that is stopping health care reform is insurance companies, evil right wing media, and the stupid people who believe in it.
It has nothing to do with the bills themselves, they are immaculate. The media seems to have this attitude: If you disagree with any of Obama's reforms, you are the same as the people in this video. You are a tool of the "talking heads"

@Steve and Ali, you're both right. I blame corporate ownership of media. They now have a full circle control on what messages are allowed to be heard, except in the blogosphere.
I think network bobbleheads should wear nascar jackets to show who's paying them, same deal with politicians.
