The treatment of Power Girl as an individual character has interested me recently. Creating a female character that embodies the tabula rasa - white, blond, a plain white costume, complete with a name as vague as "Power Girl" - seemingly enabling artists of a particular strip/book and readers to project upon her what they will is intriguing enough. Apparently out of rebellion against censorship, Power Girl would be given two defining characteristics: a large bust and an oval window on the chest of her uniform. Today, these qualities have become iconic of the classic Power Girl image. What's your perspective on treatment of this character as an individual and how do you feel she is treated by artists/readers today?

What is your favorite little-known fantasy prose novel to recommend, and your favorite little-known sci fi prose novel to recommend? I am looking for more beyond the usual suspects.

(In other words other than Tolkein, C.S. Lewis, Pratchett, Terry Brooks, Robert Jordan, LeGuin; and other than Asimov, Bradbury, Heinlein, Niven, Gibson, Hitchiker's Guide and Star Wars novels, please.)
